Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area

Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area islocated 1.5 km away from Jingzhou Ancient City, with Shanghai-ChengduHigh-speed Railway (next to Jingzhou High-speed Railway Station) on the south,the north section of the renewed State Road 318 on the north, east section ofthe renewed State Road 318 on the east, and the Ji'nan Old City along the oldState Road 207 on the west. There is a total area of over 10 km2,including more than ten Chu culture relics spots like Ji'nan Old City Site ofChu Kingdom, Yingcheng Site, Yutai Mountain, Site etc.


Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area, Jingzhou District and ShashiDistrict will eventually form a triangle, making a new layout for Jingzhou, whichwill breakthe old Jingzhou's layout of 20 km east to west along Yangtze Riverwith only 5 km wide, an obstacle for the region's further development. Thedevelopment of the Ji'nan area will help expand the city northward to ChanghuDistrict.


The planning for the Ji'nan Tourist Area is "one center, two corridors,four axes, six regions, and nine cultural tourism clusters". According tothe plan, there will be about 30 km2 of green land of parks and largesites, and 20 km2 of water scenery area, making the whole area aninternational ecological garden town, the only one in China and one of the fewof its kind in the world.


Based on the cultural and ecological resources, such as Ji'nan Old City,history of Chu Kingdom, and water scenery of Changhu, Ji'nan Ecological andCultural Tourist Area is designed to construct 9 cultural tourist clustersincluding Memory of Ji'nan, Zhanghua Flourishing Age, Phoenix Grander, HistoryRiver of Chu Kingdom, Sailboat of Changhu, Yingcheng Reminiscence, Chuci LiteratureGarden, Yunmeng Fairyland, and Cultural Silicon Valley.


For the construction of Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area, threeconcepts will be adopted: First, the area will be developed under the new modeof city administrative general planning and Development Zone marketingoperation. Second, market will be the main body of resources allocation andoperation development. Third, it will be a cultural and modern new city basedon cultural industry, tourism, and modern services industry with high-qualityecological environment, livability, intelligence and low carbon.


The core development value of Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area isbased on the three factors: high and exclusive Chu Kingdom culture, the uniqueecological and water scenery environment, and the goal to build a key cultural,commercial, touring and livable city.


There are four strategy goals for the construction of Ji'nan Ecological andCultural Tourist Area including: build a national cultural industry demonstrationzone, national 5A scenic area, national ecological civilization new area, and nationallarge sites protection area, with pillar industries of culture, tourism andmodern services.


The general development goal of Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area isto “launch a full-range start in one year, and complete it in three to fiveyears”.


Presently the Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area development platform company has been founded, and the planning and design of major projects havestarted. At the same time, it is trying to introduce large domestic and foreignenterprises and projects  so as to lay asolid foundation to accomplish the development goal.


Ji'nan Ecological and Cultural Tourist Area will be built with the capacity toaccommodate a population of 200,000 people, and receive 5 million touristsannually. It will invite over 1,000 enterprises of culture, tourism and modernservices to settle in the area, which will create more than 100,000 jobs forJingzhou. It will also properly solve the problems of household registrationand employment of local farmers rising from land acquisition.
